There are a plethora of vintage homes in Sonoma County. Petaluma, Santa Rosa, Sonoma and Healdsburg all have historical preservation commissions. Petaluma and Santa Rosa have historic neighborhoods. The goal of the preservation commissions is to preserve the historical look and feel of the homes. In many cases, one must ask permission of the historical commission to preserve the exterior of the home (home maintenance).
